User Ratings and Reviews
5 Stars On OS X, it worked flawlessly.
I plugged the adapter into my iBook G4, and although the box said I would have to go to the Apple website to get the driver, the iBook recognized it and iSync was automatically configured. I synced the phone and my address book and calendar were loaded to the phone. Good job!
5 Stars It works!
It works! If you use Vista pls download driver from Belkin’s site. I am using this to connect to my stereo system and cell phone. Just use default settings for everything if you are not sure about certain things during installation. Do bare in mind that the more things you are connected to the weaker the signal. And like all bluetooth the signal is pretty easily interupted.
2 Stars Issue connecting about half of the time.
I have the latest drivers for Vista but I’m constantly plagued with connection issues. Right now I’m trying to download some images from my Samsung cell phone. The bluetooth app starts up and I hear a connection tone but nothing allows me to transfer the images. This sort of thing happens about half the time. Of course, A reboot will resolve things but that is a work-around, not a solution.
4 Stars Works Fine
I bought this to backup my cell phone contents on my Windows XP desktop computer. It installed fine. Then I got it to recognize my cell phone and backed it up. I will say that I am not very familiar with bluetooth technology.
The first time you work with a bluetooth connection it is sort of like setting up a wireless network. You have to have the settings on the two devices correct or they won’t recognize each other. I had to go to Bluetooth connections on my phone and turn on the visibility. Then I got my computer to search for bluetooth devices. It found my phone. Then I had to enter a passcode “0000″ on both devices. Then they were paired and I could transfer data and backup my phonebook.
I lost my phone once and I could replace the phone, but I hated typing in all the contacts again. I agree that the manual could be more comprehensive. It’s basically an “installation guide” and not a users manual. There is a users manual on the cd that comes with the device and I did use that when I was making the Bluetooth connection with my Nokia 6126 phone.
1 Star Crashes Wireless Network Cards in Centrino Laptops
I bought this adapter to use with wireless headphones and for syncing my smartphone.
The adapter works great with one huge exception. If you install this on a centrino laptop, it will most likely crash and corrupt your network drivers.
I tried this with 3 laptops with various implementations of network cards and the adpater driver and software goofs with the TCP/IP settings of the adapters so you can no longer use a network connection. It seems to work fine with the one desktop I tried.
Basically on a notebook you end up either having bluetooth or an internet connection, but in order to use your internet connection you have to uninstall the bluetooth drivers and software, not particularly convenient.
I went back and forth with Belkin’s tech support and they quit responding to messages. They told me it was a problem with my computers and not the poor quality of their software. Overall the support for this item was poor at best.
I would stay away from this and consider adapters from other vendors.
