If they sound good to you..buy them. If you are going to complain about the price, then go buy on the cheap. This system sounds great !!

I just picked these up, along with a new high end sound card for my PC. I am shocked at all the good reviews for these speakers. The design is really great, which is why I didn't give them 1 star, but they sound terrible. The speakers don't produce highs very well (or at all in some cases) and the subwoofer is one of the worst I've ever owned. It's very boomy, the bass is either overwhelming or non-existent. The bass doesn't immerse the listener at all. I've played around with placing it all over and no matter where I put it, you can hear exactly where the bass is coming from, it doesn't fill the room up at all. I've tried different computers and my iPod and they all sounded the same. I don't understand what people like about these speakers, there are so many systems at half the cost that sound 10x better.

Very disappointing speakers!
Rip off.
I returned them.

1.	Satellites produce static noise even with the computer turned off. You have to press the mute button to get rid of it.
2.	Extremely rumble base; not crisp. Even turned all the way down it is too prominent. Maybe good for war games.
3.	Missing mid tone. Satellites sound like they are coming out off a tin can.
4.	Volume is a bit underpowered. Will not knock your socks off.

I heard this Companion 3 system at Best Buy, next to far less expensive Altec Lansing, Logitech, and Klipsch 2.1 systems --- and guess what, the Bose came in almost dead last. OK, second to last. There was a $35 Logitech system that WAS admittedly much worst. But other than that, the other systems, ranging from fifty to a hundred fifty dollars more or less, were equal or far better.

The Bose Companion 3 system suffers from the same problem as every other Bose product: all the money and thought has gone into a sleek compact form factor and an ingenious saturation-advertising campaign. So what you hear is music that's so deeply unnatural-sounding, with muted highs and muddy smeary mid-bass, which is mainly impressive to someone who's had experience only with bargain basement Walmart generic brands.

The satellites are cute as all get-out, but they leave out a huge amount of detail in the music, plus can't go very loud so if you crank the volume it's mostly subwoofer that you hear...and not a terribly good subwoofer at that.

The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system which goes for a hundred less simply destroys this system without breaking a sweat. If Bose sold this system for say fifty bucks instead of two hundred fifty it might be much less of a rip-off.

its so sad that people are still raving about their sound, have any of you listened to other equipment? maybe the name bose just makes it ok to make and sell junk from the 90s and 80s, other speaker manufactures have made leaps in bounds in music and movie sound reproduction in the past 20 years, bose is the same old bose, they sell the same mediocre stuff(at least its become cheaper) but they still cant get this stuff too work all the time, what are they doing if not upgrading the sound to where every other company?
people let your ears do the deciding not the name of the company.
